You can be on a course 30 minutes after leaving the centre, or drive to the coast and stay the night. What's hard is pricing: most courses sell through booking agents, and quotes for the same round can differ by 20–40%. Below are the main courses, rough price ranges and what to check before you book.
How it works
- Quoted prices are usually a package: green fee, caddie fee and half a shared cart. Packages vary, so ask whether caddie and cart are included.
- Caddie tips are never included. Plan on about 400,000–500,000 VND (US$15–20) per caddie for 18 holes, in cash, after the round.
- One caddie per player is standard. A solo cart or an odd-numbered group usually costs extra.
- Weekends cost 30–50% more than weekdays, and weekend mornings often go to members first.
- Foreign-visitor rates run about 15–20% above local rates.
- Booking through an agent is often cheaper than walking up. At one course the gap is around 40%.
- Dress code: collared shirt, golf trousers or knee-length shorts, golf shoes. No jeans, round-neck T-shirts or sandals.
- No source mentions a handicap certificate being required.
Close to the city
Tan Son Nhat Golf Course
- Location: 6 Tân Sơn, just north of the airport (former Gò Vấp District)
- 36 holes, under 30 minutes from the centre
- The only floodlit course in the city, so you can play after dark. Open roughly 5am to 9–10pm
- 18 holes: about 2.5–2.85 million VND weekdays, 3.4–3.8 million weekends
- The land is earmarked for airport expansion. It was still hosting tournaments at the end of 2025, but check it's open before you book.
Handy if you're here for work: meetings in the day, a round under the lights in the evening.
Vietnam Golf & Country Club (Thu Duc)
- Location: Hoàng Hữu Nam, Long Thạnh Mỹ (former District 9, Thủ Đức)
- 36 holes (East and West). Vietnam's first 36-hole club; the East course is a Lee Trevino design
- About 20 km, roughly 50 minutes from the centre
- 18 holes: about 1.85–2.9 million VND weekdays, 3.15–3.6 million weekends
- No night golf
Vinpearl Golf Léman (Cu Chi)
- Location: Tân Thông Hội, former Củ Chi District
- Opened October 4, 2025. Two 18-hole courses, North and South
- Launch price from 2.55 million VND for 18 holes with caddie and half a cart. 2026 international rates are reported at about 2.72 million weekdays, 3.24 million weekends
- Club rental about 950,000 VND
About an hour out
Twin Doves Golf Club
- Location: 368 Trần Ngọc Lên, Bình Dương ward (former Thủ Dầu Một, Bình Dương province)
- 27 holes (Luna, Mare, Sole)
- 50–70 minutes by Grab
- Mainly a members' club; visitors usually book through an agent. On weekends and holidays the course only takes groups of 3–4 (official site).
Song Be Golf Resort
- Location: Lái Thiêu, former Thuận An, opposite VSIP industrial park
- 27 holes, open since 1994. About 40–50 minutes
- Around 2.8 million VND for foreign visitors on weekdays
Long Thanh Golf Resort
- Location: Đồng Nai province, near former Biên Hòa
- 36 holes (Hill and Lake). The Lake course is reported to have floodlights
- Agent quotes vary widely: about 1.9–2.6 million VND weekdays, 3.0–3.6 million weekends
Emerald Country Club (formerly Taekwang Jeongsan)
- Location: Đại Phước island, Đồng Nai province (former Nhơn Trạch)
- About an hour from the centre. Korean food at the clubhouse
Dong Nai Golf Resort
- Location: Trảng Bom, Đồng Nai province
- 27 holes, around 100 minutes away
- About 1.7 million VND weekdays, 2.7 million weekends. One of the cheapest in the area
Worth an overnight: The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram
- Location: Hồ Tràm (former Xuyên Mộc, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu)
- Greg Norman's 18-hole dunes course on the coast, a regular in Asian course rankings
- 2.5–3 hours by road, so most people stay a night
- Direct rack rate: 5.85 million VND weekdays, 6.5 million weekends. Agent packages are often much cheaper
- The resort runs a daily shuttle with limited seats; book ahead.
Getting there and back
- Many agent packages include return transport.
- Going on your own, book a 7-seat GrabCar so the clubs fit.
- If you drink at the clubhouse, don't drive. Vietnam has no legal alcohol limit for drivers, and since 2025 car drivers face fines of up to 40 million VND and a 22–24 month licence suspension.
- Read the cancellation terms. One agent refunds 100% up to 30 days out, 50% up to 11 days, nothing after. Some courses won't refund a rained-out round unless you told them in advance.
Weather
- Rainy season is May to November. Afternoon storms usually clear in 30–60 minutes.
- Midday heat is tough. Early tee times, or Tan Son Nhat after dark, are the comfortable options.
