Breakfast in Saigon means pho or cơm tấm. These four are on the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand list and easy to reach from Districts 1 and 3.
Pho
Phở Minh
Serving pho down a narrow alley since 1945. Pick from tenderloin, brisket and whatever other cuts they have that day. Michelin says not to miss the pâté chaud, a flaky meat pastry.
- Address: 63/6 Pasteur, Sài Gòn Ward (former District 1), inside the alley
- Hours: daily 6:30–10:30
- Cash only. It's a breakfast-only shop and sells out, so aim to arrive before 9.
Phở Phượng
The house special is a mix of beef cuts. Michelin notes the oxtail, braised for 40 hours until soft and gelatinous.
- Address: 25 Hoàng Sa, Sài Gòn Ward (former District 1, along the canal)
- Hours: Monday 5:30–14:00, Tuesday to Sunday 5:30–20:30
- Cash only.
Phở Hương Bình
Open since 1958 and now run by the second generation. Both beef and chicken pho, with add-ons like chicken skin and egg yolk. The broth is clear and on the lighter side.
- Address: 148 Võ Thị Sáu, Xuân Hòa Ward (former District 3)
- Hours: daily 6:30–21:00
- Cash only. Open in the evening too, which makes it easy to fit in.
Cơm tấm
Cơm Tấm Ba Ghiền
A street stall serving cơm tấm since the 1990s, and one many locals rate as the city's best. The signature is a thick, charcoal-grilled pork chop. There's a chicken version too.
- Address: 84 Đặng Văn Ngữ, Phú Nhuận Ward
